The pictures on the internet do not do justice to Maldives: Janani Iyer

The past one year has been quite stressful for all of us. Staying at home, getting used to the quarantine life, and then stepping out all masked up, was a change that we all got used to. After the lockdown was lifted, shoots were permitted and I got busy with work. But, I badly needed a break and wanted to go to a place that was calm. I celebrated quarantine birthday last year as that was the time the government had announced the lockdown. Everything was shut and I couldn’t even ring in the occasion with a cake. So, I decided that I should take a trip somewhere safe to celebrate my birthday this year. Even though I have been getting some great offers in Maldives before, I had decided that I would go only during my birthday — March 31. Eventually, things fell into place and I took a six-day break from my work and headed off to Maldives for my vacay.

I took my family along with me as they too, were stuck in the house for the past one year. During the lockdown, we had grown closer, and so, I wanted to celebrate my birthday with them as well. I am a beach person and I was kicked to see Maldives. I had seen so many pictures on the internet and I must say that those pictures did not do justice to the place. Though I was upset that I couldn’t see the beautiful view from the flight on the day when we arrived on the island because we landed at night, the next morning, I woke up to the turquoise blue sea water, a sight that was truly magical!
